Hoppy the Go-Lucky

Description

Left sketches for the warm up, upper-right corner was the first attempt. "Oh, I know! I'll draw the human anatomy, then draw the suit on top of it!" I drew the pose without keeping in mind how it'd affect the suit's folds. Hated it. I ditched the pumpkin pants design since it clashed with the coat's silhouette.

It's not the character "Hoppy the Go-Lucky" that I want to know more about, but the person wearing the suit. They have a tendency to clutch at the left ear when they get nervous or stressed out while in-character. That's why it's bent all the time. I just thought of that 3 seconds ago, did that sound legit?

I wanted the muscle tone of the legs and small-size of the hands in relation to the head give the impression of a mascot suit. Dancing around as a job, those legs are going to get definition. Haven't figured out a color scheme yet... maybe green as a 4-leaf clover for luck?
